Frequently Asked Questions

It sure doesn’t tickle! You’ve probably heard some horror stories, but I assure you are in great hands. Kesha Styles has mastered her own technique of providing and almost painless Brazilian wax. Remember, we’re still removing hair out of a follicle so it can be sore or even a bit tender even after the service. The only way to minimize the “pain” is to exfoliate 24 hours before and after, stay consistent, do not shave in between appointments and listen to your Estheticians recommendations. You may also take a Tylenol an hour before.

Yes! Again, you may have more sensitivity and I always recommended coming in 2-3 weeks before delivery not the week of, she sensitive!

Exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week.

For 12-24 hours

  • No sauna, pool, hot tub
  • No sexual activity
  • No touching
  • Wear loose comfortable bottoms

1. Grow out your hair! It’s best if your hair has grown out to a ¼ of an inch to ensure proper removal. That means no shaving in between your Brazilian wax appointments!

2. Arriving at your appointment clean is a must. Showering and exfoliating the area beforehand will ensure you get the best results.

3. Loose-fitting clothing and cotton underwear will be your best friends after a Brazilian or bikini wax. They’re the most comfortable and allow your skin to breathe immediately after your wax.

4. If you are menstruating at the time of your appointment, be sure that you’re wearing a tampon.

Every 3-5 weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done every 3-5 weeks. Overtime with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be epilated/pulled and the hairs will come out more easily. Another reason to wax frequently is that you may even experience less hair growth over time.

We actually use BOTH. I find there’s benefits to using both. Strip wax is great for removing short stubborn hairs. It’s also very quick to use, you can do large body parts in minutes. Here at Styles Pop Beauty & Wax Center, we normally use hard wax. It’s very common for us to use both during a single service.

YES! You can get waxed on your menstrual. We actually provide organic tampons and wipes for you prior to your appointment, so you can feel clean and comfortable during your service. Just keep in mind, to successfully complete the service a tampon must be worn during this time.

When you wax, the entire hair shaft is removed from the follicle root and all, rather than cutting it off at the surface of the skin like you do when shaving. This leaves your skin super smooth with no stubble. Waxing also lasts much longer than shaving, and the hair grows back thinner and finer with repeated treatments.

For the best results hair should be as long as a grain of rice or ¼ of an inch. For most people, this means waiting two weeks after shaving before you wax. Again, you want to make sure that all of the hair is long enough for optimal results.

Taking a mild pain killer 30-45 minutes prior to waxing will help a little with the pain. Avoid caffeine before waxing. If you are female, avoiding waxing the week before your period this will reduce sensitivity. Taking these steps will decrease the amount of pain you experience, but nothing makes waxing completely pain free.

If you are using a topical prescription cream, you can still wax. However, you will want to discontinue use for a week prior to your appointment and several days after. Even then, you may experience more irritation than you would if you were not using one at all. Clients who are using accutane/isotretinoin cannot, under any circumstances wax until they have discontinued use for at least six months. Waxing while taking accutane can result in dramatic tearing of the skin, because it can be compromised by this medication.

When waxing for a special occasion, the most important thing is that you wax at least once well in advance of the big event. Everyone is different, and while reactions are rare, you don’t want to find out that you have a reaction to waxing the day before your wedding! I recommend waxing once six weeks before the big day, and then again 3 days prior. Please remember that you do not want to tan 48 hours before and after waxing services and plan accordingly.

Those of us who are prone to ingrown hairs will experience them no matter what hair removal method we use. In my experience as a wax educator, most people get less ingrown hairs from waxing than shaving. To help with ingrown hairs, we recommend using our all natural exfoliant and Ingrown concentrate. This should be used as a preventative as well as to treat existing ingrowns. Moisturizing your skin with our beauty oil in conjunction to using the above products will help achieve maximum results.

Waxing areas with tattoos won’t cause any damage to your art or your skin. In fact, waxing can help brighten your tattoo by removing the dead surface cells on top of it. For piercings, we recommend removing your piercing. If you can’t remove it, as a wax specialist we will have to go around it which could result in leaving a couple of hairs that are too close to touch.
